2004 WILDER Network
Public Service Announcement Published

We are determined to spread our message far and
wide in hopes of furthering our mission, which is:

Help spread awareness about the dangers of ticks and their
diseases and inform the world that early detection is critical.

It is our intention to help prevent future incidences
of persistent infection. Further; We intend to gather
and share useful data and to assist individuals in need,
especially children -worldwide.

So, we published a public service announcement on
several thousand business-size cards. Our directors will begin
distributing them from California, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio,
Minnesota and Pennsylvania and continue through all the seasons
of the year. We hope everyone will join in sharing this message
with the world. Leave them at schools and doctor's offices,
libraries and much, much more. We plan to have these cards
available from our web site very soon. Write to:
Webmaster@wildernetwork.org for more information
on how you can help spread the message in your location.

Special thanks to Dr. McNeil, for his kind support in making
this effort possible, and to volunteers who have participated
in making it possible for us to accomplish this important goal.

Following is the message that will appear on the cards.
Everyone, do *please* feel free to have this printed.

WILDER Network Directors, Advisory Committee
Members and Volunteers

http://www.wildernetwork.org/WILDERwho.html
Educated and dedicated volunteers from all over the planet have
joined us in directing WILDER Network!

Our advisory committee has grown so much this year! We are blessed
with knowledgeable advisors and volunteers from all over the world!
We have helped lots of folks learn more about Lyme and associated
diseases and helped them find labs, doctors, information, support,
answers and more. Many wonderful volunteers and advisors have
joined us in creating this global network of individuals interested in
helping people and making a serious effort to alert the public to the
true nature of ticks and their diseases.

With directors from all corners of the US, volunteers and connections
from all over the globe, we are casting our net across the planet. As
well as networking and encouraging public awareness about the
seriousness and complexities of tick-borne diseases, worldwide,
we are all dedicated to helping individuals in need, especially the
children. We intend to proceed patiently, persistently and with
humankind's best interests in mind.

Volunteer!

WILDER Network attends ILADS conferences in PA
Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Drulle and his fine work in the Lyme
community, Lyme experts from around the world met for a few days
in November in Philadelphia, PA at the ILADS conference to discuss
the latest findings in tick-borne infections and the maintenance of the
diseases.  New information was presented discussing the possibility
of human transmission of Lyme disease as well as the genetic mapping
of the Borrelia Burgdorferi spirochete.  Alternate therapies were also
discussed such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy.    The different classes
of antibiotics were also discussed and their role in the treatment of
Lyme disease, Bartonella, and other tick-borne infections. Interesting
case studies were presented by doctors and the medical audience was
allowed to comment on and discuss difficult cases .

Three of our directors were there this year! We learned so much, saw
some of our favorite associates and met lots of new, wonderful and
dedicated people, including the new spokesperson for the Pediatric
Lyme Disease Fund, Amy Tan who introduced us to her adorable
companion, her tiny dog travelling in her large, comfortable handbag!
We even got to help Dr. Stricker with his presentation on human
transmission of Lyme disease. It was easy, we were just in the right
place at the right time, but proud to be of assistance, all the same.
We learned so much, too much to list all. Visit www.wildernetwork.org
often for updates and information from the conferences.

Oh, and one last thing; Mitch Hoggard, the newest member of ILADS
board of directors and Tom Grier had us in stitches one night at dinner.
With all everyone is doing to help educate the world about tick-borne
infections, their positive attitudes are a real inspiration to us, all.
They sure are funny.

SPECIAL PLANET
http://www.wildernetwork.org/drted_special.html
By, Edward L. McNeil

Our moon visited and finding no harvest,
it thought far too near for real adventure,
only the first step on the galactic route,
our neighboring planets are then explored
only to find them inhospitable with dust,
unsuitable for growing vegetable or fruit.

Perhaps, further out in our spinning galaxy,
we may find, somewhere, a touch of green,
but admit chances are extremely remote
that a planet can exist such as our own,
with waving corn, hills topped with snow,
streams rushing through lush valleys, spilling
into bountiful seas: forests that are here known
to be ungratefully plundered, some unwilling
to see the galaxies spin for our own delight,
painting our night skies with shining diamonds.

It seems taken for granted we fully deserve
the privilege to spoil and destroy the Earth,
our blue ball, as if it was Mans own right.
The universe will miss our blue planet more
than planets that, long ago, disappeared,
because, for billions of years, there appeared
our beautiful, livable ball, forever changing,
negligence demonstrating it is not endeared.
McNeil 2001

The Endless Sky
http://www.wildernetwork.org/drtedpoetry1.html
By, Edward L. McNeil

The unfathomable sky is still,
deep in its awesome blue as
sea for impermanent clouds
to cruise on courses
of meteorological magic
barometered and buffeted
by the isometric music
the winds would spill.
Somewhere, as the referee,
the moon hangs all decision
on how bright the sun can wash
the wavelength of mountains
and our own small hill.

The following is a poetic message to all
the brave and brilliant leaders, supporters
and volunteers of the Lyme community:

Anyway

People are unreasonable, illogical
and self centered.
**************
Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives.'
**************
Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you will win
false friends and true enemies.
**************
Succeed anyway.

The kindness you show today
will be forgotten tomorrow.
**************
Be kind anyway.

Honesty and frankness
will make you vulnerable.
**************
Be frank and honest anyway.

The biggest person
with the biggest ideas
can be shot down
by the smallest person
with the smallest mind.
**************
Think *BIG* anyway!

What you spend years building
may be destroyed over night.
**************
Build anyway.

People really need help,
but may attack you if you help them.
**************
Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you've got
and you might get kicked in the teeth.
**************
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

Sometimes It's Better

http://www.wildernetwork.org/NoWindow.html
by, HarMonica Sterling

Sometimes it's better not knowing,
the things that happen outside.
Sometimes it's better to answer myself
than to hear those excuses and lies.

Sometimes I can't understand it,
when there is so much to learn.
And sometimes it's better
just tending the wounds
that flare up each time I am burned.

I can't believe what they tell me.
I can't believe what I read.
I can't believe I'd be better off dead
than standing upright on my feet.

I can't believe in my future.
I can't believe in my past.
I can't believe I must fight for my life
with a body that's lifeless and trashed.

Sometimes it's better not feeling,
every little pain
Sometimes it's better not speaking up
and sounding so insane

Sometimes it's better not knowing,
some things that are hard to know
And sometimes it's better
just getting home early
and sober after a show.

I can't believe in justice.
I can't believe in science.
I can't believe in politics,
those b*~!?!**s tell me lies!

I can't believe in Everything
and I can't believe in How
I just believe in Harmony
and some time called right now.
-End-

What Is Right
by, HarMonica Sterling

We've got to speak
Our collective mind
Stand up
For Human Rights
And don't let life
Pass us by

Don't go and run and hide when
They pie us in the eye
Stand up for what is right
Don't hide and let life
Pass us by

Don't just sit there and cry when
You realize the truth is all lies
Speak up for what is right and
When you've tried everything
You can try
Don't cry and hide and let life
Pass us by

I know how
hokey it sounds, but
Don't let this life
Get us down

Pick your defeated selves up off the ground
Turn your perspective around
Make a loud and intelligent sound
Just don't let this life
Get us down

Don't moan and sigh and compromise when
They try to tell us all those lies
Look them straight in their crooked eyes and
Stand up with pride for what is right
Enjoying and living life

Pick your blessed selves up off the ground
Help turn our situation around
Make a loud and urgent sound
And don't let this life
Get us down

I know how
tuff it sounds, but
Don't let this life
Get us down

Don't just sit there and cry when
They lie to us straight in the eye
Speak up for what is right
Don't cry and hide and let life
Pass us by

Don't go and run and hide when
They try to steal our lives
Stand up for what is right

We've got to speak
Our collective mind
Stand up
For Human Rights

In My Cage
By
Tom Grier

After so many years my friend opened the door to the bird cage
But the bird did not fly away
Were its wings too weak?
Did it not see the other world?
The bars had been replaced by doubt,
And its wings were bound by fear.
How many times had I the chance to soar?
And not seen the opening of the door?

Words In The Wind
By
Tom Grier

Did I give you gifts substantial?
Or just promises of air?
Words whispered easily
That traveled from here to there.

Or were there everlasting thoughts,
That linger to this day?
Contemplative memories that,
Are more than what they say.

We are built of memories,
And thoughts of what we dream.
And dreams are precious gifts,
Especially when redeemed.

The dream that you have given me,
Is to make all things good.
If I could only make it true,
You know of course I would.

So in these meager words
That are made of pulsing air.
I cast a net of visions,
So that I may ensnare,

The heart of a fellow dreamer,
Who wishes upon on a star,
To remember my wispy words
In lands so ever far.

For a thought is like a breeze,
That travels distant lands.
It spreads seeds to fertile ground,
Having passed the barren sands.

May my thoughts still find a moment,
In your heart, and in your mind.
And be remembered in the stillness dark,
When my memory is left behind.
END
